Our Approach to Sustainable Computing
Redemtech was born out of the belief that business can play an important role in protecting the environment. As we grew, we discovered the corollary is also true: environmental responsibility can play an important role in business success.
Extending Lifecycles and Putting Idle Computers to Work
We support lifecycle extension and reuse through a range of services designed to keep computers productive throughout their life including:
- Recovery, value-appropriate repair and refurbishment of existing equipment delivered through an International network of TCM Centers
- Certified testing, reconditioning and remarketing of surplus technology through a global secondary market that ensures a productive secondary life and captures above-market residual returns
- Professional refurbishment and imaging of legally licensed operating systems for redeployments, "hot spare" deployments and employee purchase programs
- Managing the complete and timely return of leased IT equipment that ensures reutilization while reducing cost
- Sourcing of used systems and components for the repair and upgrade of existing technology that reduces new procurement and waste
Enhancing Environmental Responsibility through Corporate Philanthropy
Social and environmental responsibility goes hand-in-hand. Our status as the first commercial Community Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (CMAR) in North America enables computers being donated to charity to be equipped with Microsoft Windows and Office software for a nominal administrative fee.
Our partnership with TechSoup.org and joint sponsorship of the Refurbished Computer Initiative (RCI) helps corporations make surplus computer equipment available for charity reuse, and includes:
- Certified testing, value-appropriate repair and refurbishment services that guarantee quality and prolong the useable life of technology
- Free asset recovery and recycling services that ensure donated computers don't end up in a landfill at end of life
- Reporting that demonstrates the social, financial and environmental benefits of donated technology
Setting the Standard for Responsible Recycling
Recycling computers is the last thing we want to do. But it is also something we do betterand more responsiblythan anyone else in the world.
Our policy is simple: we don't export e-waste, we don't incinerate it, we don't landfill it and we don't use prison labor to recycle it. This policy is supported by mature, well-documented processes, complete reporting on the disposition of every asset and auditable controls, which allows us to deliver:
- Equipment demanufacturing that ensures all reusable parts and raw materials are safely harvested
- Downstream verification that assets are disposed in compliance with our policies, customer requirements and legal obligations
- Unlimited waiver of liability
Our Environmental Management System is ISO 14001 certified. It is compliant with The Electronics Recycler’s Pledge of True Stewardship and has been recognized by Basel Action Network’s e-Stewards Initiative and IDC’s Green Recycling and Asset Disposal for the Enterprise (G.R.A.D.E.) certification as an industry best practice.
