Redemtech joined 31 others in a commitment to Basel Action Network’s e-Stewards Initiative, a new certification program for North America’s most responsible e-waste recyclers. The e-Stewards Initiative is the first independently audited and accredited electronic waste recycler certification program. Redemtech, BAN Produce Video Demonstrating Effects of E-Waste Export

Redemtech teamed up with BAN to produce an informational and eye-opening video showcasing the detrimental effects of dumping e-waste. The film summarizes the work of the BAN’s years of investigation into the dumping of electronic waste in developing countries, exposing what really happens with the used electronics discarded by businesses today. It also includes footage of Redemtech president Robert Houghton supporting the need for e-Steward recyclers.

GAO Exposes EPA’s Lax E-Waste Enforcement: Redemtech Speaks Out in Support

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently released findings which criticized EPA’s oversight of companies that export electronic waste overseas. Redemtech president and founder Robert Houghton participated as an e-waste expert at a news conference to publicize the findings that was organized by the Electronics TakeBack Coalition. Redemtech’s zero-export, zero-landfill standards drew praise at the news conference as “vastly different than many other companies,” and Mr. Houghton was widely quoted in media outlets such as GreenerComputing, Network World and PC World. In fact, the GAO found 43 U.S. recyclers willing to export CRTs, including ones that tout their exemplary environmental practices.

Redemtech Spotlights Sustainable Computing at Gartner Conference

Redemtech President Robert Houghton spoke to asset managers at the Gartner IT Financial, Procurement and Asset Management Conference in San Diego in late October on how to grow their bottom line and their respect for the environment in his presentation “Beyond Green: A Roadmap for Sustainable Value”  Bob Brand, VP of Corporate Security for Cox Enterprises, then explained how many processes needed for green results also serve other objectives – like improved privacy compliance – in his case study presentation "The Green Carrot: Leveraging Sustainability to Advance an ITAM Agenda."
